The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care to the residents of the health and rehabilitation center, assisting them in activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse. Those duties include but are not limited to: bathing, dressing, serves and collects food trays, feeds residents, measures and records weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output as directed.

 

Qualifications:

Must have current Virginia Nurse Aide license in good standing or be within 100 days of completion of state approved CNA course.

  • Assists in the supervision, orientation, and training of the nursing staff. Participates in the patient care planning conference with other disciplines.
  • Identifies patient goals and approaches.

 

Job qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Current license with VA Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • One (1) year of previous experience preferred.
  • Management/leadership experience preferred.

LPN/RN Unit Manager

Cherrydale Health & Rehabilitation Center has an exciting opportunity for a Unit Manager, LPN/RN in our 210-bed skilled rehab center in Arlington.

The Unit Manager will oversee clinical operations of the unit and is responsible for staff supervision of nurses and CNAs, as well as interfacing with physicians, QI reporting and follow-up, and providing clinical expertise to staff as needed. This unit provides care for our most clinically acute patients and residents. Typical hours are Monday through Friday day shift, with some weekend and on-call duties.

 

Requirements:

•Current license by the Virginia Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse.
•Minimum three to five years of experience as an RN, preferably in long term care.
•Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations as they relate to long term care.
•Nursing Management experience preferred.
•BSN preferred.

Assistant Administrator

Cherrydale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arlington VA is seeking qualified individuals to join our growing team as an Assistant Administrator. The Assistant Administrator works under the supervision of the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and is responsible for assisting the Administrator in the overall successful operations of the healthcare center. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Administrator in the planning, development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the healthcare center’s overall operations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policy and procedure.
  • Works on-site at healthcare center a minimum of five (5) days per week.
  • Make routine rounds/inspections of the healthcare center to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed.
  • Participate in state/federal surveys of the healthcare center and ensure timely development and implementation of plan of correction as necessary for any identified deficiencies to ensure that deficiencies do not recur.
  • Meet with department directors regularly to discuss management and operations of the healthcare center and promote teamwork to achieve common goals.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationship with residents, families, and the community.
  • Maintain public/community relations program that serves the best interest of the healthcare center and community.
  • Ensure that the physical plant and grounds are maintained and in good repair.
  • Review incident/accident reports (e.g., falls, injuries, abuse) and monitor to determine the effectiveness of the facility’s risk management program.
  • Ensure that established safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the center

RESIDENT CARE & QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Ensure that all programs (nursing, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, food service, etc.) are planned, implemented, and evaluated to maximize resident qualify of life and quality of care.
  • Ensure that facility complies with all applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that residents’ rights are well established and maintained at all times.
  • Identify, monitor, and ensure that quality indicators and quality assurance programs are utilized to maximize effectiveness in resident care and services.
  • Review resident complaints and grievances and make written report of action taken; discuss such actions with resident and family as appropriate.
  • Ensure timely response and resolution to items presented from Resident Council group.
  • Ensure that resident funds maintained by the facility are managed in accordance with state and federal regulations and that appropriate accounting records are maintained.
  • Ensure that policies governing the timely notice for resident discharges and/or room or roommate changes are strictly followed by all personnel.
  • Ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are on hand to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the facility and residents.
  • Ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Ensure that all staff are trained appropriately on mandated reporting requirements.

PERSONNEL & STAFFING

  • Ensure that an adequate number of appropriately trained licensed professional and non-licensed personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Ensure that appropriate staffing level information is posted on a daily basis.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of competent department directors, managers, and supervisors.
  • Ensure that appropriate employment documentation is obtained prior to employment and regularly maintained on each employee in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Consult with department directors concerning the operation of their department to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas and/or improvement of services.
  • Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to protected class or characteristic including, but not limited to, race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, handicap, or marital status.
  • Terminate the employment of personnel when necessary, documenting and coordinating such actions with the center’s Director of Human Resources.

BUDGET & FINANCE

  • Ensure that revenue targets are met or exceeded by monitoring and driving census and maintaining high occupancy of healthcare center.
  • Participate in formation of annual budget in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Monitor financial performance of healthcare center and adjust as necessary to control expenditures based on actual census and revenue.
  • Ensure department directors adhere to allotted budgets for the effective operation of their department.
  • Monitor accounts receivable to ensure timely billing and collection of outstanding balances from all payer sources.
  • Monitor accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor and other expenses
  • Monitor staffing to ensure budgeted guidelines are maintained to reduce and eliminate unnecessary overtime and agency staff expenses.

PREREQUISITES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Maintain an active, unencumbered license as a Nursing Home Administrator in the applicable state
  • Minimum of one (1) year of leadership and business management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading diverse team of individuals.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for providing quality care and maintaining efficient operations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret financial reports and records.
  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.
